For our Third anniversary Patrick and I went to Jordan, MN. I brought Patrick to school on Thursday and went down to the Jordan, MN KOA to get our cabin set up. I then went to pick Patrick up from school and headed to the PACT Volleyball game against St. Agnes. They unfortunately didn't win but put up a good fight with missing 2 starters and playing the 2nd place team in the section. After the game we arrived at the KOA late and went right to bed.
On Friday we slept in and then headed to the Minnesota Valley State Park. It wasn't the greatest weather but it wasn't terrible. In the afternoon we visited the Minnesota Harvest Apple Orchard. The drive up was beautiful!! We took a wagon ride through the orchard. We then took on the Corn Maze! They didn't give us a map at all! Of course we got lost now and again, and came across a dead end. Patrick tried marking our path using corn or bending the corn stalks but wasn't very successful! We came across a ladder that they put in the middle of the maze that you could look out to see where you were, but it was pretty useless except to show where the exit was. We also did our Children of the Corn pose..hehe! Inside the orchard we were given a tour of how the apples are washed and sorted which was very interesting. At the end of the day we went horseback riding. Patrick rode Bailey and I rode Jem. The sun was setting when we went out what a beautiful night. At the end of our ride we had a steak dinner over an open campfire. Back at the KOA we enjoyed a campfire of our own.
Saturday was our last night and we spent it at the Nicolin Mansion Bed and Breakfast in the Gail Room. The room was exquisite. It had a 2 person whirlpool tub which was a huge treat for us with only having a shower in the apartment. There was also a fireplace. On the grounds they had various gardens along with a fountain. After we checked in we walked down to the Feed Mill Restaurant which overlooked a Creek. We spent the afternoon playing Monopoly for about 3 hours and I went bankrupt after landing on Patrick's Boardwalk. I tried beating him in cribbage with no luck, so I gave up playing games against my husband! We ate dinner at the OK Coral which was very similar to the Timber Lodge. We both had prime rib, it was very good, although it's hard to beat my dad's prime rib.
It felt really good to get away if even for a of couple days. We've been so busy with school that we hadn't had an opportunity to spend any alone time together that didn't consist of me doing homework in one room and Patrick doing homework in another. Unfortunately it always has to come to an end, but our life together continues...3 years and many more wonderful to come!
